Your First Lesson

Belt Tying

Here you will find many different instructions on how to tie your martial arts belt. This can be difficult in the begining but, it will get easier over time. Don't worry if your belt comes loose as you train hard and your belt breaks in it will begin to stay on better. 

Bowing in Practice

When we bow, we are showing respect to our instuctors, fellow students and the place in which we train. Respect is very important in martial arts prcatice. People recognize those who are respectfull and curtuios when they are in the dojo.

I shall observe the Tenets and training guidelines of Bushido Kai. I will show respect to my instructors and fellow students. I will train hard, remain teachable, and constantly seek to develop my fullest potential as a martial artist. I will never misuse my knowledge of martial arts, but shall seek to work toward making my world a better place to live.

Bushido Kai Student Guidelines

  1. All students shall seek to develop themselves to the best of their abilities: physically, mentally and spiritually.

  2. Every student shall give 100% in their effort and determination to be a true student of Bushido Kai.

  3. All students shall bow to display proper respect when entering and leaving the dojo; as well as at the beginning and end of class.

  4. Students will respond with full respect of every Black Belt instructor that teaches them. (This includes proper verbal response, cooperation and attention).

  5. Any student that is disrespectful, unwilling to cooperate or exhibits behavior that will bring reproach upon Bushido Kai or their instructor shall be suspended from the club and not permitted to return.

  6. During class, students shall be fully attentive when the instructor is teaching - no talking. There will be no gum chewing or wearing jewelry.

  7. Unsportsmanlike conduct and excessive physical force will not be tolerated; nor will profane language or behavior.

  8. Students will report to class on time, in uniform and ready to learn.

  9. The belt testing requirements for students shall be based upon proficiency, class attendance and attitude; in accordance with the approval of the Master instructor that the student is ready to test. Students may be held back from testing if a persistent lack of honor is displayed (i.e., disregard for the Student Guidelines, disrespect, failing to fulfill obligatory push-ups, etc.).

  10. All students shall endeavor to live their lives as a true student of Bushido Kai, using their skills in self defense only and seeking to make the world a better place to live.
